CAPITOL: 1983 SYNOPSES
January 3-7, 1983:
Danny threatened Frank. Wally's interest in Ronnie prompted Brenda's jealousy. Mark and Tyler hired Julie, while Kurt got a job as Sloane's co-anchor. Frank encouraged Kelly to marry Trey. Barrington stole the photos Frank was using to blackmail him. Myrna attempted to buy Danny's copy of Phil's tape.
January 10-14, 1983:
Kelly begged Danny to destroy Phil's tape. Barrington learned that Frank made the tape for Myrna and Trey's use. Wally dined with Ronnie, forgetting his date with Brenda. Barrington phoned a mysterious, unseen contact.
January 17-21, 1983:
Myrna uncovered Kelly's true identity and suspected she was the woman in Phil's blackmail tape. Lizbeth admitted she loves Jordy. Matt embarked upon a career in gymnastics. Sam was implicated in the N'Shoba mission scheme.
January 24-28, 1983:
Sam denied betraying the N'Shoba mission. Myrna confronted Frank about Kelly, but he didn't reveal that she's the "dead woman" in Phil's tape. Barrington returned the photos he stole from Frank.
January 31-February 4, 1983:
Julie learned Sam intentionally destroyed Judson's career during the McCarthy era. Mark and Clarissa fought their feelings for one another. Trey collected enough money to buy Phil's tape. Ronnie made a date to meet her father.
February 7-11, 1983:
Frank hid his files on Larry and the Cleggs in Maggie's apartment. Clarissa and Ronnie were shocked to discover Danny is Ronnie's father. Frank planned to break into Danny's office and steal the Dade blackmail tape.
February 14-18, 1983:
Danny fired a shot at Frank, who stole the Dade tape. Myrna secretly took the tape from a dying Frank without Danny's knowledge. Barrington panicked to find his file missing from Frank's safe. Kurt was revealed to be Barrington's mysterious contact.
February 21-25, 1983:
Myrna confirmed that Kelly is indeed the hooker on Phil's tape. Sloane fell into bed with Kurt. Danny's involvement in Frank's murder stunned Ronnie.
February 28-March 4, 1983:
Charges against Sam in the N'Shoba scandal were dropped. Ronnie insisted she'll stick by Danny. Clarissa asked Matt to investigate Danny's activities. Tyler and Clay found the photo of Barrington's code.
March 7-11, 1983:
Kelly confessed to Trey that she's really prostitute Shelly Granger and told him the whole story about Phil Dade. Trey realized Myrna has possession of the tape. Tyler and Julie set another wedding date. Trey vowed he wouldn't leave Kelly.
March 14-18, 1983:
Trey proposed marriage to Kelly, who happily accepted. Barrington discovered the Feds have his photo of the code. Trey and Kelly burned the Dade blackmail tape after he retrieved it from Myrna. Sam gave his blessing to Julie and Tyler's upcoming marriage. Trey confronted Danny, who agreed to maintain his silence.
March 21-25, 1983:
After ballistics proved Frank wasn't killed by Danny's gun, Danny reneged on his promise to keep quiet. A jealous Brenda had Ronnie blackballed from her sorority. Wally promised to stay away from Brenda. Myrna and Sam feared Kelly will ruin Trey's political career.
March 28-April 1, 1983:
Kelly was arrested for possession of a gun and questioned about Frank's murder. Judson agreed to defend Kelly. Trey's announcement that he'll resign from Congress rather than give up Kelly enraged Sam. Wally continued to shun Brenda.
April 4-8, 1983:
Danny fired Wally after catching him in a passionate embrace with Ronnie. Sloane pumped Maggie for information about Frank's death. A delighted Brenda attempted to win Wally's attention after Danny warned him to stay away from Ronnie.
April 11-15, 1983:
Sloane suspected Frank might have hidden the files in Maggie's apartment. Phil ignored Sloane's pleas for help and left for Belgium. Myrna offered Kelly money to leave Trey and never return. Kelly realized she's pregnant.
April 18-22, 1983:
Fearing a scandal would destroy Trey's political career, Kelly accepted Myrna's bribe money and left Washington. Kurt and Barrington declared they'll have to kill Sloane if she finds Frank's missing files. Jordy told Wally he'll help him meet secretly with Ronnie.
April 25-29, 1983:
Sam rejoiced over Kelly's disappearance, but was unaware that Myrna bribed her into leaving town. Kelly's disappearance devastated Trey. Myrna scrambled to find Frank's files before Sloane does. Kelly left part of her bribe for Ronnie.
May 2-6, 1983:
Frank's hidden files were uncovered in Maggie's apartment. Myrna destroyed the Clegg dossier but kept Frank's file on Barrington. Ronnie refused the money Kelly left her. Trey donated Kelly's money to Sugar Laine's home for ex-hookers.
May 9-13, 1983:
Barrington and Kurt conspired to kill Sam and Myrna after realizing the Cleggs have Frank's files. Jeff had Myrna tailed. Sloane inadvertently thwarted Frank's attempted murder of Myrna. Sam and Myrna kept quiet to Trey about possessing Barrington's file. Barrington kidnapped Sloane.
May 16-20, 1983:
Tyler rescued Sloane from Barrington, then prevented Kurt and Barrington from escaping to a Russian submarine. Lizbeth refused to sleep with Jordy. Myrna spotted Mark and Clarissa having an intimate tete a tete. Trey's files on the N'Shoba mission were stolen. Kurt and Barrington tried to flee from a heliport.
May 23-27, 1983:
Kurt was shot and killed and Barrington arrested. Barrington's cohorts ordered him to commit suicide or face the consequences. Wally rebuffed Brenda's advances. Myrna burned Frank's photo of Larry's code. Danny learned Wally is romancing Ronnie on the sly and instructed henchmen to eliminate him. Barrington blackmailed Sam and Myrna into hiring high profile attorney Sam Holliday to defend him.
May 30-June 3, 1983:
Wally's car crashed after Danny's men forced him off the road. Barrington offered Mark full cooperation in exchange for protection from his cohorts. Mark hid Barrington at Sugar Laine's house. Sloane assured Mark that Maggie wasn't involved in Barrington's espionage schemes. Sugar thanked Myrna publicly for her "donation" to Sugar's hooker haven. Wally's critical condition prompted Tyler and Julie to postpone their wedding.
June 6-10, 1983:
Matt was attracted to waitress Amy Burke. Sam and Myrna plotted to get Barrington out of the country. Matt and Jordy roughed up Danny to avenge Wally's "accident." Thomas was jealous of Lizbeth's relationship with Jordy. Wally's physical condition improved. Ronnie realized Danny was responsible for Wally's car crash.
June 13-17, 1983:
Barrington went into the witness protection program after giving Mark vital information about Russian epspionage. Wally took a turn for the worse and may need a kidney transplant. Tyler headed a committee to investigate the destruction of Frank's files. Julie left Washington to think about her relationship with Tyler. Ronnie refused to forgive Danny for hurting Wally.
June 20-24, 1983:
Sam and Trey tried to discredit Tyler by making it appear he accepted bribes. Thomas insisted on donating a kidney to Wally. Clarissa slapped Myrna in a confrontation. Trey resigned from the intelligence committee after he admitted destroying Frank's files. Myrna viciously taunted Sloane that Mark is betraying Paula with Clarissa.
June 27-July 1, 1983:
Myrna warned Paula to end her faked agoraphobia or risk losing Mark to Clarissa. Tyler announced his candidacy on Sloane's TV show. Mark and Clarissa considered marriage the possibility of marriage if Paula's condition doesn't improve. Amy told Jordy that she's searching for the father who abndoned her and her mother. Paula's psychiatrist Dr. Parker confided to Mark that Paula might be faking her agoraphobia.
July 4-8, 1983:
Jordy offered to help Amy find her biological father. Paula didn't fall for Mark and Dr. Parker's trap to prove she doesn't have agoraphobia. Tyler and Julie made wedding plans. Jordy planned to seduce Lizbeth.
July 11-15, 1983:
Matt and Jordy overpowered two hoods who tried to rob Amy and Fran. Matt found Amy, who was temporarily blinded, in the woods. Jordy's heroics interrupted his plans to bed Lizbeth. Matt shot up with steroids to win a gym meet.
July 18-22, 1983:
Paula encouraged Mark to attend Julie and Tyler's wedding with Clarissa. Amy refused to tell Matt she has an illness that causes blindness. Thomas learned he might be able to walk. Jordy split with Lizbeth, who said she loves Thomas. Jordy and Amy searched for Amy's real father.
July 25-29, 1983:
Thomas underwent corrective surgery. Myrna plotted with Paula, who attempted suicide. Julie and Tyler were wed. Matt rented an apartment near Amy after learning she's going blind. Jordy made a startling discovery about the identity of Amy's father.
August 1-5, 1983:
Jordy shocked Myrna with the news that Sam, Mark Denning, or Baxter McCandless could be Amy's biological father. Trey and Sam plotted to get Sloane fired. Later, a drunken Trey fell into bed with Maggie, who kept the reporters at bay.
August 8-12, 1983:
Trey didn't remember sharing Maggie's bed. Brenda stepped out with gigolos. Mark agreed not to see Clarissa while Paula's under Dr. Parker's care. Realizing Amy and Matt could be brother sister, Jordy prevented them from spending the night together.
August 15-19, 1983:
Paula stole a gun from Mark's desk and fantasized about shooting Clarissa. Jordy thwarted Trey's attempt to learn whether or not Fran had an affair with Mark or Baxter. An eavesdropping Paula panicked after hearing Mark say he'll divorce her in a year if her agoraphobia doesn't improve.
August 22-26, 1983:
Sloane noticed she's being tailed by Zed Diamond. Mark denied having an affair with Fran in 1964. Thomas stood on his own. Two con men overheard Brenda's plan to hire an escort. Amy suffered from another bout of temporary blindness.
August 29-September 2, 1983:
Paula's housekeeper Mrs. Mills dropped dead after catching Paula eavesdropping. Fran failed to recognize photos of Baxter. Matt rejected Amy's suggestion that they break up if she goes blind. Wally was upset to see Brenda with escorts.
September 5-9, 1983:
Paula hid Mrs. Mills' body. Myrna learned that Mark didn't father Amy. Jordy and Trey cautioned Myrna to keep quiet about Amy's paternity, since they don 't want to share the Clegg fortune.
September 12-16, 1983:
Paula secretly left the house during a violent storm. Myrna got proof that Amy's father is Scott Pierson, an alias once used by Sam. Myrna kept mum that Sam is Amy's father. Wally rebuffed Brenda, who begged him to make love to her.
September 19-23, 1983:
Sam admitted to Jordy that he fathered Amy. Myrna made arrangements to get Fran and Amy out of town before Fran recognizes Sam as Scott Pierson. Trey promoted Maggie. Paula daydreamed about murdering Clarissa. Lizbeth insisted she'll stick by Thomas. Wally's attempt to get a job from Zed Diamond failed.
September 26-30, 1983:
The police found Mrs. Mills' body in the river. Paula remembered driving Mrs. Mills's car off a bridge the night of the thunderstorm. Sloane learned that Zed bought DCAP-TV. Paula feared she'll be caught if she doesn't eliminate Dr. Parker. Later, Dr. Parker was killed by a hit and run driver.
October 3-7, 1983:
Paula appeared shocked at the news of Dr. Parker's death. Julie and Tyler received mysterious calls. Lizbeth questioned whether or not she could stay with Thomas if he can't walk again. Zed paid a detective to investigate Amy and Fran. Myrna befriended Fran and offered to buy her casino for a price Fran couldn't refuse.
October 10-14, 1983:
Trey suspected Sam bought Fran's casino. Sloane decided not to pursue an affair with Trey, whom she'll be following during his campaign. Brenda got close to Wally. Fran and Amy contemplated a move to Switzerland where doctors might be able to reverse Amy's blindness.
October 17-21, 1983:
Matt insisted he'll follow Amy to Swizterland. Paula told the police she felt responsible for Mrs. Mills death. Maggie learned Trey is taking Sloane on the campaign trail. Wally went on a gambling binge. Lizbeth and Thomas made love. Sam prepared to tell Fran and Amy the truth when he heard that they're moving to Switzerland.
October 24-28, 1983:
Zed's detectives dug up information on Kelly Harper. Wally gambled away Matt's money. Trey and Sloane quarreled then realized they're attracted to one another. Fran and Amy left for the airport before Sam could tell Amy he's her father.
October 31-November 4, 1983:
Sam followed the Burkes to Swizterland. Fran was astonished to meet "Scott Pierson" in Zurich. Trey suspected sabotage of his campaign. Paula fantasized that Dr. Parker's ghost warned her to beware of Sloane. Clarissa was surprised that Paula invited her to Mark's party. Trey and Sloane got romantic.
November 7-11, 1983:
Fran went on a date with Scott. Paula lied to Clarissa that she wants to bury hostilities for Mark and Tyler's sake. Zed offered to back Tyler's congressional campaign. Trey kept mum to the press that he and Sloane are an item. Trey was curious about Zed.
November 14-18, 1983:
Fran learned that Scott is Sam Clegg and Myrna intentionally kept them apart. Mark insisted to Clarisa that he and Paula are married in name only. Lizbeth admitted she's attracted to Jordy. Trey lied that Myrna is ill. Tyler planned a lavish party to announce his congressional candidacy.
November 21-25, 1983:
Sam was upset when Fran threatened to go to the press about their affair. Brenda bribed a Mario's waiter into helping her sabotage Wally and Ronnie's date. Lizbeth offered friendship to Jordy. Paula's plots against Clarissa may be foiled. Trey was jealous of the attention Tyler is receiving. Amy underwent surgery to correct her vision.
November 28-December 2, 1983:
Paula freaked out to hear Mark say he'll divorce her right after Tyler's campaign party. Zed hired beauty artists to plan Maggie's glamorous new look for the party. Brenda gloated that she thinks she split up Ronnie and Wally. Ronnie wrongly suspected Wally missed their date because of a poker game. Clarissa urged Fran to seek legal representation against her former lover and his wife, unaware that they're Sam and Myrna.
December 5-9, 1983:
Wally read Brenda the riot act after learning she sabotaged his date with Ronnie. Julie was surprised to upstage Sloane with her speech at the women's club meeting. Paula fumed when Mark accepted a dinner date with Clarissa. An upset Brenda went for a joyride and was pursued by the police.
December 12-16, 1983:
Brenda was arrested for speeding and resisting arrest. When Brenda couldn't reach any of the Cleggs, she phoned Tyler for help. The press had a field day reporting that Tyler bailed his opponent's sister out of jail. Paula schemed to get rid of Clarissa and use Sloane and Mark for an alibi. Ronnie slept with Wally. Trey's apartment was trashed.
December 19-23, 1983:
A thug named Ricky terrorized Brenda. Later, Brenda hid in a snowbank when the Cleggs and Ronnie ignored her calls. Ronnie was upset that Wally rejected sharing her digs. Amy's eye bandages were removed and Matt gave her a small Christmas tree. Trey proposed to Sloane.
December 26-30, 1983:
Trey agreed to wait for Sloane's answer to his proposal. Thomas found Brenda and saved her life. Ricky tried to sneak into Brenda's hospital room. After her vision returned, Amy went sightseeing in Zurich with Matt. Wally and Ronnie argued about Brenda. Paula fired a test bullet into a pillow and arranged to make Mark and Sloane think she's at home by playing a tape of pre-recorded music.
