The scheming sister of Leanne Foster, Kate came to Capitol in March 1986 to donate life-saving bone marrow for her dying sister. No one could have forseen she'd be more trouble than she was worth.

In no time at all, she was firmly ensconced on Clegg estate, working as an assistant to Myrna and trying her damnedest to get her hands on the Clegg fortune. Her first move was to trick Myrna into buying a New York magazine. With the wife out of the way, Kate soon seduced Sam into the sack, prompting a near-fatal heart attack.

Their affair was eventually uncovered in February 1987 by Leanne. The two sisters duked it out on the staircase landing, and when it was all over, poor Leanne lay dead, a crumpled heap at the bottom. Hardly batting an eyelash, Kate smashed a champagne glass over the corpse and told everyone her sister had taken an intoxicated tumble down the steps. Sam learned otherwise and told Kate to get out.

In the final telecast, she played her trump card. She'd overheard Sam admit to being "grandson" Scotty's biological father. Armed with this explosive info, Kate forced her former lover to ask Myrna for a divorce or risk the revelation of Scotty's true paternity. He complied, leaving a faint smile of satisfaction on her scheming face.
